Fans of Celtic have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of Hoops central midfielder, Callum McGregor, in the Bhoys’ Premiership fixture against St Johnstone.

So far this season, McGregor has been an ever-present fixture in Neil Lennon’s Premiership side, with the £5.85 million-rated 27-year-old starting all 27 of the club’s league fixtures, over which he has scored three goals and provided six assists, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.15 – ranking him as the club’s joint-eighth best performer in the Scottish top flight, prior to the St Johnstone game.

However, after once again being given the nod to start the Bhoys’ fixture against the Saints on Sunday, McGregor’s performance appeared to do very little to impress Celtic fans, many of whom took to Twitter to criticise the display of the Scotland international.

As per SofaScore, the Scotland international was the worst-rated midfield option, earning a 6.4 rating and it’s easy to see why as the experienced star lost possession 19 times, the second-most of any Hoops player. He also won only 33% of his duels, both aerially and on the ground.

All in all, it would appear that these Celtic fans were far from happy with the performance of McGregor, with some stating their belief that the midfielder has been off his game for weeks, while others took aim at the 27-year-old for his apparent hand in St Johnstone’s goal.
