Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Facebook, which relayed a report regarding the Bhoys’ potential appointment of Scotland manager, Steve Clarke, as Neil Lennon’s replacement.

According to the report by the Glasgow Evening Times, Clarke – who is under contract with the SFA until 2022 – is now the favourite to become the next Hoops manager, topping a list of potential targets which include Rafa Benitez, Eddie Howe and Frank Lampard.

It is also suggested that alongside Dominic McKay taking over as the club’s new chief executive at the end of the season, replacing Peter Lawwell, there have been rumours of a ‘complete overhaul in football operations’ at Parkhead this summer.

However, after Read Celtic relayed the report regarding Clarke on Facebook, plenty of Bhoys fans flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing to be firmly against the idea of their club appointing the 57-year-old as Lennon’s successor.

So, what exactly did these Celtic fans have to say in reaction to the report linking their club with Steve Clarke?

All in all, it would appear that these Celtic fans want Clarke nowhere near their club, with some claiming that the Scotland boss is too defensive for the Hoops’ style of football, while others suggested that their side searches for a bigger name than the 57-year-old.

Clarke’s last job in domestic management was at SPFL rivals Kilmarnock, where he won the Manager of the Year award for guiding Killie to a European qualification spot.

Despite his decent record in Scottish football, it seems that many in Glasgow would be far from pleased with his appointment, should Lennon face the axe in this likely mass cull.
