Celtic fans have been reacting to the latest update about defender Stephen Welsh after he was stretchered off against St. Mirren in midweek.
The 21-year-old has slowly been making his way through into the first-team this season having come through the academy at Celtic Park, and looks to be a promising prospect for the future with The Glasgow Times touting him as ‘highly-rated’.
However it looks as if he won’t be out for as long as it might have seemed given how bad the tackle was, with it being confirmed (as per Anthony Joseph) that he only suffered bruising on his foot rather than any significant fractures or ligament damage.
News that made Celtic fans breathe a huge sigh of relief that he won’t be out for the long-term after impressing so much recently:
“Looked a bad one at the time, glad it’s not serious & hopefully gets more game time once he’s fit again”
Can Welsh be Celtic first-team captain one day?
Yes
No
Neil Lennon confirmed after the game that Welsh’s place in the team is secure when he comes back from injury because he ‘has earned it’, so at least that’s one less thing to worry about on top of this news.
