Many Celtic fans have been fuming at the latest comments from Neil Lennon that recently emerged on social media.
Lennon was recently talking about his position at the club in a press conference. The Hoops boss said that he’s ‘quite comfortable’ with his position at Parkhead and his position is always being reviewed by the club’s board.
Is Lennon taking his position for granted?
Yes
No
He said that a manager can never be secure in his role anyway and until his role changes, he will give his best every day in it.
A tweet about what Lennon said was relayed on Twitter by Superscoreboard and many Hoops supporters were enraged by what Lennon had to say.
What did Celtic fans make of Lennon’s comments?
“I cannot believe a Celtic manager who is 18 points behind Rangers in the season which we were going for 10 league titles in a row has the nerve and cheek to say he is “quite comfortable with his position” after admitting in January the league was beyond them.“
This comes after Celtic’s recent 2-1 win over St. Johnstone in the Premiership and Lennon had hailed the team and had said that they are in a ‘good place’ right now (as per BBC Sport).
He had said that, despite the fact that the Hoops find themselves 18 points behind the league leaders – Rangers. They’re already out of the League Cup and the Europa League (as per Transfermarkt).
“Suppose anyone would be comfortable after being knocked out of two European competitions before the end of the year and sitting 18 points behind in the league yet still being able to enjoy a lucrative salary in a position of privilege with no consequences suffered. What a gig.“
A lot of these Celtic fans are frustrated and angry at Lennon’s comments and one fan believes that the manager lives in ‘fantasy land’ too.
While the Hoops have certainly been in good form in the month of February, their form in January was pretty poor as they won just a single league game (as per WhoScored).
With the club’s chase of the tenth title in a row slipping away, it is understandable why Celtic fans are fuming about Lennon and the fact that he’s still comfortable in his job.
