Lots of Celtic supporters have been fuming at a statement that the club has recently relayed on social media.

Celtic chairman Ian Bankier recently gave a statement about multiple things involving the club, as he addressed multiple problems that have been raised by the club’s fans and shareholders.

He made it clear that the fans’ concerns about the team’s performances aren’t being ignored. He said that Celtic as a club have made statements about Neil Lennon’s position, the team’s performances and the appointment of a new CEO. He made it clear that the current season has been a ‘disappointment’ so far and the team haven’t met the requirements expected of them.

Bankier said that the club is operating under government-imposed restrictions and they will make decisions about certain issues in a rational way. He thanked fans and the season ticket holders for their support, saying that the club has missed their support in the stadiums.

This statement was posted on Twitter by the club’s official account and many Hoops supporters were angry about it.

What did Celtic fans make of Bankier’s statement?

“Even their lies are lies. The PLC are to blame and refuse to acknowledge this truth. Completely out of touch with the Celtic support and what the club is based on. Until they are removed nothing has or will change.

“The club is so out of touch it’s unbelievable. We have kept an inept manager in charge for too long now. We need to start the re build. This is doing more damage than good to a support that has put a lot of money into this club even during the pandemic! Shambles.”

“The review of the manager’s position does not address the manager or his position. Astonishing.

The Hoops currently find themselves as many as 18 points behind league leaders Rangers in the Premiership table. They’ve already been knocked out of the League Cup and the Europa League and protests were held against Lennon’s position and against the club’s board.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

Some other Celtic fans also made their anger clear about Bankier’s comments regarding the ongoing season.

“We will not make hasty decisions that we might regret.” By not sacking Lennon in October, you made a decision that has pretty much destroyed our title defence. It’s now February and you still haven’t sacked him! That is gross negligence by the board!
