Many Celtic fans have been discussing some comments from former player Shaun Maloney that recently emerged on social media.
Maloney recently appeared as a guest on the latest episode of BBC Sportscene. The former Celtic player talked about the situation at Parkhead and he believes that there is going to be a ‘structural change’ at the club and Celtic can even bring in a technical director.
Should Celtic consider hiring Maloney?
He also made it clear that as things stand, the players have to close the gap between themselves and Rangers. These comments from the midfielder were relayed on Facebook by Celtic News Now. Many Hoops supporters made their views clear about Maloney.
What did Celtic fans make of these comments from Maloney?
As a player, Maloney spent many years at Celtic. He came through the ranks at Parkhead and broke into the club’s first-team too. He played for the senior side for around six years, before moving to Aston Villa in the January of 2007 (as per Transfermarkt).
He made 132 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys, scoring 29 times and getting 31 assists as well. Maloney is currently the assistant manager at the Belgium national team, currently working under Roberto Martinez.
Some of these Celtic fans want Maloney to manage their club in the future and they are making their views clear about it.
The Malaysia-born Scotsman is still only 38 and he has previously been an assistant manager for Celtic Under-20s and the club’s Reserves side. Martinez likes to get his team to play a free-flowing attacking system with a back three and if Maloney wants to do the same thing, he may well be a very good option for the Bhoys.
