The Mirror recently reported that Liverpool have identified Torino defender Bremer as a target for the summer transfer window and the Serie A club is preparing for offers from multiple teams for their defender.
The report suggests that while Davies was signed by the Reds in the January transfer window, he isn’t a ‘ready-made’ solution for the Reds, which has led to some Celtic fans hoping that they can still sign him before the start of next season despite the 25-year-old’s switch to Anfield.
Should Celtic look to sign Davies in the summer?
Celtic were close to signing the defender and it was reported that they had agreed to sign him on a pre-contract basis in the summer before Liverpool signed him in the recent transfer window.
The news about Liverpool’s defensive situation was relayed on Facebook by Celtic News Now. Many Hoops supporters made their views clear about whether they would like to see their club sign Davies in the summer.
What did Celtic fans make of Davies’ situation?
Liverpool paid a fee of £1.6million to sign Davies from Preston, trumping Celtic in the process.
The Hoops sold Hatem Abd Elhamed to Hapoel Be’er Sheva, while Jeremie Frimpong also departed Parkhead to join Bayer Leverkusen. As for incomings, the Bhoys signed Jonjoe Kenny on loan from Everton until the end of the season (as per Transfermarkt).
A lot of these Celtic fans don’t want their club to return to their chase of Davies in the summer and feel that the saga is now done.
Having said that, the Bhoys only have Shane Duffy on a loan deal right now. Elsewhere, Elhamed has now left and Kristoffer Ajer has been linked with a move to Milan, while Christopher Jullien suffered a knee injury and is out for the time being.
This might be indicative of the fact that the Hoops might need another central defensive option and whether or not they try again for Davies, they should look to bolster that position of the pitch in the summer.
