A lot of Celtic supporters have been discussing a news update involving Diego Laxalt that recently emerged on social media.

According to Milan Live (via Sport Witness), Celtic would like to sign Laxalt permanently in the summer transfer window and things are yet to be fully sorted out. Celtic would need to reach what has been described as a ‘definitive agreement’ and the challenge will arrive when the figures are talked about.

Milan are also thought to be looking for a new full-back in the market and they could demand as much as they can for Laxalt’s sale.

This update about the Uruguayan was relayed on Facebook by Read Celtic. Multiple Hoops supporters made their opinion clear about the defender.

What did Celtic fans make of the news about Laxalt?

Laxalt had arrived on loan from Milan in the summer transfer window and the left-back made his debut in the Old Firm derby that the Hoops ended up losing.

He earned impressive ratings in games against Lille, Hibernian, Motherwell and even against Milan in the Europa League (as per WhoScored).

He has picked up a rating of a 6.81 in the Premiership so far in the campaign, but as many as 18 Celtic players have picked up better ratings than the left-back in the league season (as per WhoScored).

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

A lot of these Celtic fans don’t want Laxalt to be signed permanently and a lot of them don’t rate him as a defender, though there was some support for the Uruguayan.

Laxalt has won the second-highest number of tackles per game in the current season (1.8). He has made 1.2 interceptions per game, which is the joint fifth-best tally in the campaign (as per WhoScored).

This might be indicative of the fact that he’s a capable defender and some criticism isn’t quite justified. So if Milan can sell Laxalt for a cheap fee, perhaps Celtic should look to sign the defender in the summer.
