Many Celtic fans have been discussing the news linking them with a move for Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has recently reported about Celtic’s interest in signing Kenny on loan from the Toffees. The journalist reported that talks are going on between the two clubs for the Hoops to sign the right-back on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

BBC Sport has also stated that Neil Lennon wants Kenny to replace Jeremie Frimpong, who has joined Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent basis. Kenny has also been linked with a move to Burnley and has been a peripheral figure at Everton in the current campaign.

In the current season, the defender has made only eight appearances in all competitions and only four of those have come in the Premier League. In the 2019/20 season, Kenny had spent a loan stint at Bundesliga side Schalke.

As things stand, Celtic have Anthony Ralston as their only senior out-and-out right-back option. Kenny can play at right-back, but he can also play further forward as well as in the centre-back role.

Christopher Jullien is currently injured, so Celtic are also short of an option in the centre-back role – meaning that Kenny could add depth in that part of the pitch, too. So this signing might make sense for the Bhoys.
