Many Celtic fans have been talking about the club’s transfer regret involving former Lyon starlet Amine Gouiri.

According to French outlet Le Progress (via HITC), Celtic were interested in signing Gouiri in the summer transfer window but they decided against the idea of paying the £6 million asking price for the youngster.

Gouiri then ended up joining Nice, where he has already impressed. The 20-year-old has previously been described as the ‘new Karim Benzema’ and Real Madrid have already been linked with a move for him.

This news about Celtic’s unwillingness to meet the asking price for Gouiri was relayed on Facebook by Celtic News Now. Many Bhoys fans made their views clear about it.

What did Celtic fans make of the news about Gouiri?

Gouiri has been in impressive form for Nice this season. The youngster has scored seven goals so far, also picking up three assists in 22 league appearances. He also has four goals in the Europa League (as per Transfermarkt).

He has played in multiple positions across the pitch but he has predominantly played as the central striker. He has also played on the left wing and in attacking midfield. He has picked up a rating of 7.03 in Ligue 1 and he has been Nice’s highest-rated player in the campaign.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

A lot of these Celtic fans are slamming the club’s board for their approach in the transfer market.

Considering how Leigh Griffiths has been constantly criticised for his lack of fitness and that Albian Ajeti hasn’t been a regular for the Bhoys, Neil Lennon’s men could do with another striker. On top of that, Gouiri’s form has been impressive and that is another valid reason for why Celtic fans should regret the fact that their club didn’t sign the 20-year-old.
