Celtic fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments made by former Hoops player and Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert.

This comes after Celtic news Twitter account @celticbible shared a post on their page relaying comments made by Lambert to Sky Sports on the current managerial position at the Parkhead club after Neil Lennon stepped down earlier this week.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

On the subject of whether or not he would take the job at Celtic, Lambert said that he doesn’t want to “tarnish the good feelings” he has with the fans of the club, ruling himself out of the running to become their new manager.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Hoops fans who were quick to share their thoughts on these comments.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in response to these comments from Lambert on the manager position at Parkhead?

“Dnt want him anywer near it anyway tbh”

@TheRealSlimTim7

“Would want him no where near Celtic Park!”

@realex_8

“How do you rule yourself out of a race you were never in?”

@LiamSinclair94x

“Ruled himself out. But more than likely wasn’t on the shortlist.”

@CelticLisboaa

“Paul Lambert is an unbelievably awful manager, he didn’t need to rule himself out.”

@Jamie67_

“How arrogant to be ruling yourself out of managers job ,wait till your asked”

@AndyRit54644344

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Celtic fans are happy to hear that Lambert has ruled himself out of taking the manager’s position at the club, with some suggesting he wouldn’t have been in the running anyway.

Do you think Paul Lambert would have been considered to become Celtic's new manager?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how it looks increasingly likely that Celtic will not be winning the SPFL title this season, whoever the club hires as their new manager will have to see out this current campaign as strongly as possible and then focus on winning the league once again next year, in our view.

In regards to Lambert, looking at the fact that he has lost more games than he has won or drawn with Ipswich, this shows that he may not be at the required level to take charge of Celtic and win titles with them.
