A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to a post from Celtic 1967.com which asked them what they thought of Stephen Welsh&8217;s performance.

Which club did join Celtic from?

The 21-year-old is a former Scottish Under-19s international and made his eighth first-team appearance of the season for the during their 2-1 win over Motherwell.

Welsh scored the opener in the game as he rose in the box to plant a superb header into the top corner from a David Turnbull corner.

It is clear that these Celtic fans were pleased with Welsh’s performance but wanted to know why Neil Lennon has barely played him this season.

Another player Lennon ignored that he only played as he was forced too. He will take credit for it though.”

@ardnasyellamo

The fact that it has taken so long to give him a run of games is a scandal and one of the reasons why so many young players are seeing themselves as having better prospects elsewhere”

@bluelooscene

Add him to the list of players who should have been in the team a long time ago and just maybe we wouldn’t be in the position we are, eh Lenny?”

@Thelege01259054

Do you think Welsh should stay in the first team?

Yes, he has to

Yes, he has to

No, he wasn't that good

No, he wasn't that good

Transfermarkt still registers Welsh as part of the Bhoys’ Under-23 side but if he plays as he did on Saturday going forward, then surely you can’t imagine him staying with the Under-23s for much longer.

Certainly, many Celtic fans were impressed by his display and continued to heap praise on the 21-year-old.

Excellent young player, so composed and always picks the right pass.”

@dant66

Had a really good game today, should have been our centre half from the start of the season.”

@Damian0706

100% … older than his years and humble with it”

@sdceltic1

Welsh’s performance earned him a brilliant 7.93 rating from WhoScored, and it is clear that these Celtic fans all enjoyed his performance, though, they are confused why Lennon has ignored him for so long.
