West Ham United insider Ex-WHU Employee has recently talked about the club’s interest in signing Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

The latest episode of the West Ham Way podcast recently came out and in that, Ex-WHU Employee talked about multiple potential transfer targets for the club. He talked about multiple striker targets for David Moyes’ men and one player that he provided information for was Ivan Toney. He made it clear that the Hammers are weighing up offers for the Brentford star.

Should West Ham sign Toney?

No

No

Toney recently joined the Bees from Peterborough United for a fee of £5m rising up to £10m with add-ons. Since joining the Championship side, the forward has been on fire and he has found the back of the net 23 times in the league and he has also picked up nine assists (As per Transfermarkt).

While talking about West Ham’s interest in signing another striker in the summer, Ex-WHU Employee believes that Toney could be someone they can look to make an offer for.

He said (52:49): “En-Nesyri, who’s from Sevilla, he’s the forward that we bid for in the summer, sorry, in the winter. And we’ll probably bid for him in the summer. Again, the Sevilla striker. And then Ivan Toney at Brentford. I’ve also mentioned before – he is someone on the agenda. So we are weighing up those offers, but obviously, there’s not anything that’s going to be ready for now.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham’s interest in Toney…

Considering that Michail Antonio is West Ham’s only out-and-out striker option in the side, it is easy to see why the Hammers need another forward in the side.

Antonio has missed multiple games in the current campaign and he was missing against Man Utd due to injury too. It shows that he is injury prone and in his absence, the Hammers need someone who can play regularly and score goals.

Considering Toney’s goalscoring record for Brentford, he could be the man for West Ham especially since he is only valued at £9 million right now.
