Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been sharing their criticism for Lilywhites winger Erik Lamela and his latest performance for the north London club during their recent 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Goals from Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan secured all three points for the home side after Spurs were kicked out of the FA Cup in midweek after a dramatic 5-4 defeat against Everton.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

During the game against City, lots of Spurs fans flocked to Twitter to have their say about Lamela and his display against Pep Guardiola’s side.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about Lamela and his performance against City?

“Lamela is so frustrating to watch”

@thfcRoo

Lamela effectively ends our counterattacks for our opposition every time because he’s too slow to play the ball or turns back. #THFC

@Big_RobzTHFC

“Lamela slows down every play”

@C9_thfc

“Lamela has been so poor”

@ThfcOwen

“Lamela is so bad”

@JBlincoTHFC

“Is Lamela the most infuriating player to watch? The amount of times I shouted pass and he took a touch is actually comical”

@Z_PearsonTHFC

“Lamela is a liability right now, just a shocking performance”

@fund_human

“Lamela is a headless chicken absolutely dirt stealing a living”

@littleYIDO

“Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela. Absolutely stealing a living.”

@TeeceFox

“I dont want to watch sanchez, dier, davies, sissoko, winks, moura, bale or that fraud lamela ever again”

@PhilBleach

“How can he not take off Lamela. Get rid of the clown”

@FredTHFC99

Looking at these tweets, it’s clear to see that they were not impressed by what they saw from the 28-year-old against the Manchester outfit, and they have every right to feel aggrieved considering the winger finds himself among the top earners on £85k-per-week in N17.

Was Lamela Spurs' worst player against Man City?

Yes

No

No

The Independent gave the Argentine a disappointing match rating of 4/10 for his display, saying that he had “a lively opening few minutes but then seemed more bothered about ongoing personal battles than actually launching attacks for his team,” which only backs up just what these Spurs fans had to say about the £14.4m-rated ace.

Moving forward, plenty of Spurs fans will have to see a turnaround in form from Lamela if he is to get back in their good books.
