Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of Spurs midfielder, Erik Lamela, in the club’s Europa League victory on Wednesday evening.

In the fixture itself, goals from Dele Alli, Gareth Bale and a brace from Carlos Vinicius ensured that Tottenham qualified for the Europa League round of 16 with ease, beating Wolfsberger AC 4-0.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

However, despite making one key pass, completing eight dribbles and winning 13 duels, as well as earning an impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.8 for his performance over his 69 minutes on the pitch against the Austrian side, many fans of Tottenham appeared far from happy with the display of Erik Lamela, with many taking to Twitter to share their anger at the £80k per week Spurs player.

Do you think Lamela was poor against Wolfsberger?

So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say in reaction to Erik Lamela’s performance?

“Lamela just wants to do it all himself and will pass as a last resort.”

“Lamela robbing Bergwijn of assists again.”

@tobeytheginger

“Lamela and dele are being Lazy again”

@EuropaThfc

“Lamela needs to learn how to pass.”

All in all, it would appear as if these Tottenham fans were far from happy with Lamela’s display against Wolfsberger, however, considering the £14.4 million-rated 28-year-old’s SofaScore match rating of 7.8 ranked him as Spurs’ third-best player on the night, perhaps some of their comments are a little over the top.
