Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter (as per BT Sport), which relayed footage of Jose Mourinho’s post-match comments following Spurs’ FA Cup loss to Everton on Wednesday evening.

A combined nine goals were scored in an FA Cup fixture in which both sides appeared to throw caution to the wind, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison (x2), Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard getting the goals for the Toffees, while Davinson Sanchez (x2), Erik Lamela and Harry Kane all found the back of the net for Spurs – with the match finishing 5-4 in Everton’s favour after extra time.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

Following the game, Mourinho, in his post-match interview, claimed that he “enjoyed the way” his side played when they were in possession, however, he also stated that “attacking football only wins matches when you don’t make more defensive mistakes than [goals] you create”.

And, after Last Word On Spurs relayed the 58-year-old’s comments on Twitter, fans of Tottenham flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their belief that the performance and result of the fixture appears to have broken the Spurs boss.

So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say in reaction to Jose Mourinho’s post-match comments?

“It’s sad because you can tell he is absolutely broken by that performance.”

@AHaff24

“It’s. Not. His. Fault. We. Don’t. Have. Competent. Defenders.”

@lUKE_c0ys

“He’s totally right, score 4 you expect to win, worst case draw. An absolute calamity at the back tonight.”

@bashy_1986

“He’s laughing at how bad our defence is, get the hint Levy/ENIC”

@mosely_ethan

“When we want attacking football Jose gives it to us to prove a point. We go back to the better way – counter-attacking seems better for this defence, which is no good at the moment. We did play well but we need to sort the defence out. Leicester do it well.”

@BirdiKam

“I’d sooner watch Spurs play this way and lose than the manner in which they played Chelsea and still lose. At least this way there’s some entertainment.”

@WhoriskeyNeil

“Today was a weird one, the squad played for Jose today. It’s a big step in the right direction and a VERY positive sign. They showed so much desire, that can’t be questioned. Yes conceding 5 goals is awful and the quality in defending let us down, but the work rate can’t be questioned.”

@connormasters_

He’s actually almost laughing at how bad our defence is.”

@Ciaran_THFC

“I think he’s happy we lost like this, shows why he has to play defensively.”

@reiss_richards

“I’m José in after this honestly. Shows we can clearly play good football and he can have us scoring tons. But he sees and knows that the defence is simply not good enough. Gotta back this man in the summer.”

@JesusHinojosa__

“Four goals are not enough. What’s wrong with this team fgs. UNBELIEVABLE”

@MdnghtRadio7

All in all, it would appear that many of these Tottenham fans were encouraged by the performance Mourinho’s team put in against Everton, as well as feeling that the result demonstrates proof that the Portuguese manager requires investment in his defence this summer.
