Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been discussing a news update about Eric Dier that recently emerged on social media.
Journalist John Cross recently wrote an article for the Mirror and this talked about Mourinho’s situation at Tottenham right now. The article also talked about Dier’s situation and said that the Englishman is currently lacking confidence and his teammates feel that Mourinho has been ‘harsh’ on him and that has left him struggling.
Should Spurs sell Dier?
Yes
No
The article also criticised Mourinho’s treatment of Harry Winks, saying that Spurs currently miss the England international’s creativity.
“He’s given away more penalties, since project restart – 4. Also has a boxing match with a fan and has made numerous errors leading to goals. Liability and needs to be upgraded. “
“Nonsense. Dier has been given more passes for his mistakes than any other player in the squad. Mourinho is clearly a fan of his & tbh, dropping him for a while is the best thing that could happen to Dier. If he had stayed playing with those performances, things would get toxic.“
“Harsh??? He’s an absolute joke of a defender, the only mistake Jose has made is not dropping him sooner, this isn’t a boys club it’s a premier league club, no mates passes here please.”
Since a good performance against Leeds United, Dier’s match ratings have gone downhill. Against Liverpool, the defender got a rating of only 6.28. Against Chelsea, he got a rating of only 6.63 as well (as per Whoscored).
A lot of these Spurs fans are blaming Dier for his performances and they are refusing to blame Mourinho for the situation.
Young Japhet Tanganga hasn’t got too many first-team opportunities in the current season, as he’s played only 433 minutes in all competitions. He is yet to play in the Premier League (as per Transfermarkt).
So if Dier is struggling, perhaps Mourinho should consider giving some more minutes to Tanganga in the future.
