Speaking recently to Chris Cowlin, Fabrizio Romano discussed the contract situation of Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward, Harry Kane.

Having enjoyed a remarkable start to the 2020/21 season, over which Kane has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists over his 19 Premier League appearances, as well as averaging a highly impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.83, reports emerged at the start of January which claimed that Tottenham were opening talks with the £108 million-rated 27-year-old regarding the extension of his contract, which currently runs until the summer of 2024.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

However, with no developments in these talks reported throughout January, and with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City thought to be interested in the idea of purchasing the England captain, Cowlin, speaking on a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, questioned whether Romano knew of any updates regarding the situation of Kane’s new deal.

In response, Romano said: “I think this year, 2021, they will negotiate with Harry Kane and with his agent about the situation of his contract. So, for sure, Harry Kane is on the agenda for Tottenham to extend his contract.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments regarding Harry Kane…

So, according to Romano, despite the fact that there have been no updates in the reported contract talks between Kane and Tottenham over the last month, the offer of a new deal for the striker is very much something that Spurs plan to table and hope to complete in the not so distant future.

And, considering how influential and important the 27-year-old has proven himself to be within the Spurs side once again so far this season, perhaps this is not surprising news to many of the Tottenham Hotspur faithful, or indeed the rest of the footballing world.
