Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting furiously to some footage from their loss against Everton in the FA Cup.

Given that Spurs have been without a trophy since their League Cup campaign in 2007/08, you would be forgiven for thinking that there would be a sense of urgency amongst the Tottenham players to be the ones to get them over that hump and at the very least relieve some of the pressure on boss Jose Mourinho.

However, footage posted by @thespursweb (which originated from BT Sport) of the winning goal by Bernard has really got fans fuming for the lack of effort that was put in to stop the goal, from the moment Harry Winks gave the ball away to when the Brazilian was allowed to waltz through the defensive line without much of a challenge, but it was Winks giving the ball away that appeared to get the lion’s share of the blame from supporters on social media:

“Harry winks can’t control a simple 5 yard pass with 0 pressure. This should be great motivation to all academy player that anyone can make it to the 1st team even if you’re bang average”
“Winks got bundled off the boy like a little boy. Most overrated player in many a year at spurs and I’ve been going since 73 !”
“Basic control is a must at top level. Winks done that more than once last night”
“That touch is criminal! It’s not even like it was fizzed into him. No excuses for that. Not only that, then puts a half hearted attempt in to tackle him! Smash the fella and take a yellow!”
“Rather play with 10 than have winks on”
“It really is such a bad touch it’s almost funny. What was he wearing on his feet?”

Is Skipp better than Harry Winks?

They’re still in two cup competitions this season, the Europa League and Carabao Cup, and they’ll have to put in more effort than what was on display there if they’re to have any chance of making this season a success.
