A number of Tottenham Hotspur supporters have taken to social media to react to hearing that Daniel Levy is reportedly feeling sympathetic towards Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

It’s been a tough season for Mourinho’s side so far, with Spurs currently sat ninth in the Premier League table and 20 points adrift of league-leaders Manchester City.

There had previously been reports that Mourinho was facing the sack, but that is yet to materialise for one reason or another. ESPN have now revealed that Tottenham’s owner Daniel Levy won’t be making a decision on Mourinho’s future at the club until the end of the 2020/21 season at the earliest.

It is also claimed that it would cost £30 million to relieve Mourinho of his duties, who has seen his side struggle for a positive run of results in recent months.

In their most recent league match, Spurs were beaten by Manchester City but got back to winning ways in midweek when they beat Austrian side Wolfsberger AC 4-1 in their Europa League Round of 32 first-leg encounter.

Mourinho’s side are set to return to action on Sunday, when they face West Ham United at the London Stadium, in what is likely to be a closely-fought battle, with David Moyes’ side sat fifth in the top-flight standings, with 14 matches remaining for them in this year’s league campaign.

Plenty of Spurs supporters took to social media to react to this update on Mourinho’s future at the club.

Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below…

“Sympathetic because he let the man down. The got us Joe Rodon instead Ruben Diaz who has given Man City the Van Dijk effect. What a let down.”

“This is made up nonsense but of course Levy isn’t gonna make a hasty decision that’s gonna cost him a fortune. Surely Mourinho deserves one full season, given his track record.”

“Sympathetic? To the negative football he dishes up? They deserve each other.”

“Why sack him? Yes the style of football has been woeful but and it’s a huge but, the players can not be trusted to play to game plan! That is NOT his fault. We have unfortunately a very average squad!”

“Let’s see how sympathetic Levy is when half his stadium is full next season cos if this is the style of football Spurs are going to play weekly fans will stay away.”

“Jose getting sacked is only a matter of time. Levy will never blame himself or the players, so that only leaves the manager. Us fans need to force him and Lewis out once the ground reopens.”

“If this is true, Levy can quite clearly see how bad the players are too and there’s only one way to solve that mate. Back him.”

“He should, he knows this is his mess!”

“Could cost him far more in the long run to keep him.”

“When he finally starts to develop feelings and not act totally cynical, it is towards a certified psychopath! Wow…wow… “
