Southampton journalist Dan Sheldon has been sharing his praise for Saints winger Moussa Djenepo and his latest performance for the club during their recent 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

This comes after Sheldon recently made an appearance on Southampton-themed podcast The Total Saints Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the club, including their draw against Thomas Tuchel’s side over the weekend.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Djenepo, who started and played the full game at St. Mary’s, Sheldon had this to say on his display. (16.30) (18.12)

He said: “I was honestly so impressed by the discipline he had against Chelsea and the energy he had, I mean, he was still going in the 90th minute after being kicked around for quite a large part of the game.

“I just thought it was a really important performance from him and maybe I’m overplaying it and I’ve seen something that perhaps other others haven’t and I’m putting too much emphasis on how good I thought he was, but I honestly thought it is the best performance I’ve seen from him, the most complete performance I’ve seen from him.”

Southampton signed Djenepo back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Belgian club Standard Liege for a fee of £14.13 million.

Since then, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £11.7 million, has made 39 appearances for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in which he has managed to score three goals and provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Dan Sheldon’s comments on Djenepo and his performance against Chelsea…

Given how Djenepo made more tackles than any other Southampton player on the day and earn himself an overall match rating of 7.15/10 (per WhoScored), this explains why Sheldon thinks the winger had a very complete and impressive performance against the west London side.
