Many Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to slate Jamal Lewis over his performance in the Toon’s latest Premier League game versus Southampton.
However, it seems like his determination to play this game failed to win over many Newcastle supporters, judging by what they’ve been saying about his performance on Twitter.
So, what have these Newcastle United fans been saying about Lewis?
Per Sky Sports, the left-back allowed Saints winger Nathan Redmond to get past him in the eighth minute to set up Takumi Minamino for a goalscoring opportunity and it appears that the 23-year-old’s attempt to stop Redmond has summed up his overall performance in the eyes of many Toon fans, as they’ve been raging at the player on Twitter.
“A quick question for Steve Bruce at @NUFC can you explain why you repeatedly pick Jamal Lewis? He adds no value to the team and really a liability. #NUFC”
“Just my weekly tweet letting everyone know that Jamal Lewis should be nowhere near professional football x”
“Jamal Lewis makes me feel so nervous #NUFC”
“Jamal Lewis is honestly so poor..”
“Is Lewis allergic to a tackle? Twice in 5 minutes he’s looked uncomfortable in making a challenge. #nufc”
Is this criticism fair?
“He’s all over the shop always in wrong position”
“Lewis really is a shocking defender isn’t he? #NUFC”
So, it’s clear from these Toon fans’ tweets that they expect better from the ex-Norwich City man, who made the move to St. James’ Park last summer.
