Newcastle United: Jonjo Shelvey’s torn to shreds for his performance v Crystal Palace

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the performance of Jonjo Shelvey during the game against Crystal Palace.

Steve Bruce’s men have been on an awful run in recent months, but managed to get back to winning ways against Everton at the weekend. A win would have been a great way to keep easing the pressure on the head coach whilst also allowing them to drift away from the perils of the relegation zone.

That result didn’t come to pass, though, as they lost to the Eagles despite going ahead in under two minutes, and one player who seemed to be taking a lot of stick for his part in the defeat was Shelvey. Despite putting the home side in front, his display for the rest of the game didn’t seem to impress the supporters watching at home:

“Absolutely sick to the back teeth of Shelvey’s long balls to no-one.”

Not the best way to try and keep hold of that captain’s armband in the absence of skipper Jamaal Lascelles, it seems.
