Newcastle fans have been left overwhelmed with their first glimpse of new signing in gear.

The club announced late last night that they had signed the 21-year-old on loan from fellow Premier League side Arsenal until the end of the season. Having been seen as a rotational player under Mikel Arteta, this will be a chance for him to get some minutes under his belt, and give Steve Bruce an extra body to work with as he tries to ward off the threat of relegation.

And if the write-up about him from The Chronicle is anything to go by, then he comes off as a coup for the Magpies, and he further managed to endear himself with the message that he sent upon his arrival at the club.

His words obviously inspired a lot of the Newcastle faithful, as they welcomed him to St. James’ with open arms on social media, though some took the opportunity to have a dig at Bruce:

“Welcome to SJP Joe. Give 110% every week and the fans will be singing your name loud enough, so that your old team mates can hear”

“Going to be a great addition to the team.”

“Welcome to @NUFC Joe. Work hard and play with pride and the fans will love you”

“Can’t wait to see you on the pitch! Should walk into our middle”
“Graeme Jones is a great manager he’ll get the best out of you, In less than 48 hours he’s saved our season, Without him there was no chance.”
“I love him already”
“Positive attitude. You love to see it”

Are you happy Newcastle signed Willock?

He certainly looks to have made a good first impression, now let’s see if he can match that with his performances on the pitch.
