Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

This comes after Newcastle journalist Mark Douglas shared a post on his official Twitter page that contained an article from Chronicle Live.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

The article relayed comments made by Tuchel who recently revealed (via The Times) that there “would have been a chance” of him becoming Newcastle’s manager back in 2015 if there had been any contact with him by the club regarding the position.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Toon fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this news.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to Douglas’ post regarding Tuchel?

“ANOTHER brilliant move by the powers that be at this joke of a club. ALWAYS making the wrong decision.”

@StevenE01103369

“We have GOT to be the worst run club in world football”

@Bullyboy1972

“NUFC’s recent history is full of so many bad decisions it hurts”

@javi_138

“Lucky escape for the bloke, He’d probably be coaching in the German 3rd division now had he said yes.”

@wuds100

“This sums up the mentality at the top of our club…”

@teammonkeyracin

This is what happens when there is a complete lack of ambition at your football club. #nufc @nufc

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that the majority of these Newcastle fans are pretty disappointed by the club’s decision to not try and appoint Tuchel as their manager back in 2015 and put it down to a lack of ambition from the club’s owner.

Do you think Tuchel would have been a success at Newcastle?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how Tuchel managed to win a number of trophies when he was Paris Saint-Germain’s manager after winning a German Cup with Borussia Dortmund previously, this does suggest that the Tyneside club did miss a good opportunity to hire Tuchel when they had the chance.
