Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed an article containing the comments of Chris Sutton regarding Steve Bruce.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via The Chronicle), Sutton claimed that, despite Newcastle slipping to 17th place in the Premier League table – just seven points ahead of Fulham one spot below, who have a game in hand on the Magpies – Bruce “certainly hasn’t lost the dressing room” at the North East club.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

The former Blackburn Rovers centre-forward claimed that evidence of Bruce’s popularity with his players can be seen in the club’s recent performances, specifically in the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United when Bruce’s side were “unlucky not to get anything out of the game”, the 2-0 win over Everton when the Magpies were “superb” and in the 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace when Newcastle “had the better chances”.

However, after The Chronicle relayed Sutton’s remarks on Twitter, fans of Newcastle flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing to be in a state of disbelief regarding the pundit’s comments.
