Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

Newcastle United were one of the clubs that were mentioned quite heavily as the Toon anticipate a busy day of action.

One player who has been linked with a move to Tyneside is Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock.

The 21-year-old, who is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, has barely featured for the Gunners in the Premier League this season and according to Alex Crook, a move for Willock is edging closer.

Both Ornstein and Waugh claimed that this was a deal that could happen, and it now looks like it is getting closer.

Ornstein said: “If they [Newcastle] are to take somebody from Arsenal it could – could – be Joe Willock because Arsenal’s preferred midfield loanee is Joe Willock.”

Waugh then added what he knows about Willock potentially moving to Newcastle much later in the show.

He said: “They also sort of have an interest in [Ainsley] Maitland-Niles as well, he impression that Newcastle seem to have got is that if Arsenal are going to allow a midfielder to go, [they would prefer] Maitland-Niles to go as a full-back and if they’re going to let a midfielder go it could be Joe Willock.

“So, that’s someone Newcastle are interested in.”

Since Waugh’s comments this morning, it has emerged that Newcastle have indeed made an official approach for Willock.

TIF Thoughts on the Toon signing Willock…

It seems that Steve Bruce is desperate to add to his options in central midfield with the club linked with the likes of Hamza Choudhury and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as well as Willock.

However, after that update from Crook, it is looking increasingly possible that the Toon will sign Willock from the Gunners.

In his time playing for Arsenal’s first team, Willock has scored 11 goals and provided four assists, so he could add something to the Toon’s midfield, and we will be watching on with interest to see if Newcastle do sign the young Arsenal midfielder before the deadline.
