Plenty of the St James’ Park faithful have reacted to the news that Miguel Almiron could be set for a significant spell in the treatment room.

Newcastle United face a nervous wait to find out the extent of Almiron’s knee injury, with the midfielder set for scans after being withdrawn at half-time in their recent draw with Wolves.

Almiron picked up the injury after stretching to retrieve the ball and was reportedly left ‘distressed’ with the problem, which saw him substituted at half-time.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce issued an update on Almiron’s knee injury, and was hopeful that he wouldn’t be ruled out of action for too long, with the Magpies sat in 17th place in the Premier League table.

“We’ll not know until scans tomorrow. We’ll have scans fixed up and see how he is. The way he was at half-time told it all, really.

“As I’ve said many, many times with Almiron, he’s a wonderful pro and he was in distress with it. Let’s hope it’s not that bad.”

A number of Newcastle United fans took to social media to react to the frustrating update on Almiron’s injury, with many of the St James’ Park faithful fearful of relegation back into the Championship.
