Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest social media post from former Toon manager Rafa Benitez.

This comes after Benitez recently shared a post on his official Twitter page over the weekend saying that he is “enjoying the football” and being with his dogs. The Spaniard also included an image of himself outdoors alongside two of his dogs.

Interestingly, the Spaniard was linked with a potential return to St James’ Park last month, but nothing has come of it as Bruce appears to be staying until the end of the season at least.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

His post quickly caught the attention of a lot of Toon fans who were quick to share their responses to Benitez’s post.

So, what did these Newcastle fans make of this latest social media post from Benitez?

“Dear Rafael can you come home so we can climb to Europe please kind regards”

@PaulGallant11

please come back @NUFC”

@ChipperfieldNot

Come home Rafa @nufc”

@LeeWall90133759

“Great to see you looking so well !!! Hopefully you will get back to your unfinished project soon”

@DeliaFender

“Wish you were still at Newcastle, just hasn’t been the same since you left.”

@bowesfield

“Miss you at the Toon”

@HowdonC

“Waiting in the wings”

@jamesarmstrong

During his time at Newcastle, Benitez took charge of 146 games with the club in which they managed to win 62, drew 30 and lost 54 along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Newcastle fans miss having Benitez as the club’s manager and would be over the moon to see him back at the club.

Would Rafa Benitez be your number one choice to replace Steve Bruce?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how some Newcastle fans have recently called for the current Toon boss Steve Bruce to be sacked from his managerial position at St. James’ Park, it would be safe to assume that should Bruce get the sack, then these Toon supporters would be hoping that Benitez would be persuaded to return to the Tyneside club.
