A number of Newcastle United fans took to Twitter to issue their verdicts on Joelinton’s performance in their side’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

The Magpies took the lead through Jamaal Lascelles, who headed home from a Ryan Fraser cross after 52 minutes to give Steve Bruce’s men a much-needed lead.

But they were unable to hold on, as Ruben Neves headed in the equaliser from close-range. The hosts had a chance to take all three points late on, but Joelinton could only see his effort cleared off the line to see the spoils shared.

That stalemate at St James’ Park means that Newcastle now find themselves sat 17th in the Premier League table, and just three points clear of the relegation zone heading into their final 12 matches of this year’s campaign.

Joelinton has struggled for form in front of goal recently, with the 24-year-old only having three goals to his name from his 25 appearances this term.

Plenty of Newcastle United supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on Joelinton’s performance against Nuno Espírito Santo’s side on the night.

Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below…

“He’s a £40 million footballer, he was acceptable tonight which is a major step up. Let’s not kid ourselves, he’s one of the worst players in the squad.”

“Play horrific every week then when you play average, people will say you’re amazing.”

“This is the Premiership not Sunday league, the end result with everything he did was not good enough. He does not deserve to play in the Black & White. Anyone else would have put the ball to the keeper’s left.”

“Ridiculous that people criticise him for his price-tag when that’s out of his control. He wasn’t great, but he wasn’t bad enough to be slated.”

“I thought he played well too. He got at least 3 shots away and should have scored. Held the ball up well too. Keep it up Joe.”

“People can’t get over the fact he’s got a no9 shirt but he’s not a no9. Set up to fail.”

“He wasn’t a threat at all!”

“Still should’ve kept it low but not a disaster class by any means.”

“Played average rather than horrendous. Still wouldn’t be in my team.”
