Journalist and author Karan Tejwani has been sharing his thoughts on the potential candidates that could replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s manager.

This comes after Tejwani recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the Merseyside club and the link they have with the Red Bull Group who own clubs such as RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

Klopp has recently waved off talk about his future after rumours surfaced that he was resigning from his position.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the topic of who could be the person to replace Klopp at Anfield, Tejwani had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think that if Klopp was to leave next year, which he won’t, or if Klopp were to leave this summer, [Marco] Rose or [Julian] Nagelsmann would be the natural successor because of that line of thought they have of playing the game.

“But if it’s 2024, which is when Klopp’s contract expires, [Steven] Gerrard has a bigger case, hopefully by then, he has a bigger career with Rangers or wherever he goes. But I think those three would be the top targets Rose, Nagelsmann and Gerrard if they carry on in the same way as they started.

“Liverpool could probably see them as being their long-term managers, for the next maybe seven, eight years like Klopp has been.”

Klopp joined the Reds as their manager back in October 2015. Since then, the 53-year-old has taken charge of 298 matches in which they have won 178, drawn 65 and lost 55 under the German’s reign (per Transfermarkt).

As well as this impressive wins record under Klopp, Liverpool have since won the Premier League and the Champions League.

TIF Thoughts on Karan Tejwani’s comments on Klopp’s potential successor…

With Klopp’s current contract at Liverpool set to run out in 2024, as Tejwani mentioned in the podcast, assuming Klopp will see out his current deal and doesn’t sign a new one, the club has some time yet to decide who they feel will be the best person to take Klopp’s place.

Who would you like to see replace Klopp?

In our view, with Gerrard having spent the majority of his career at Liverpool as a player and has knowledge of the club and the Premier League, this puts him at an advantage to take over from Klopp ahead of the other potential candidates Tejwani mentioned.

Meanwhile, it has since been announced that Rose is set to take over at Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund in the summer, while Nagelsmann is reportedly a man in demand – so the Anfield legend may yet be the safest bet for now.
