Speaking recently on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano discussed Liverpool’s interest in Sevilla winger, Lucas Ocampos.

Since moving to Sevilla from Olympique Marseille in what was a £13.5 million deal back in the summer of 2019, Ocampos has so far gone on to feature 75 times for Los Rojiblancos, scoring 24 goals and providing nine assists along the way.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

This season, the £40.5 million-rated 26-year-old has highly impressed over his 21 La Liga appearances for Julen Lopetegui’s side, scoring four goals and providing four assists, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.05 – ranking him as the third-best player in a side who currently occupy fourth place in the Spanish top flight.

And, speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, Romano claimed that Liverpool could be keen on a move for the Argentina international this summer.

He said: “He’s becoming one of the best in wingers in Europe. He has a release clause of €60 million, and Liverpool are not working to sign him right now, but they are looking at him as one of the interesting players in the Diogo Jota-style, so [it is an] interesting opportunity.

“You decide about these players during the summer, not five months before. It [was] the same for Jota – Liverpool were planning for different things and then they decided to move for Jota when they had the opportunity. It’s not like you’re working from February to sign this kind of player. So, at the moment, there is nothing advanced.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments regarding Lucas Ocampos…

So, while it would appear as if there are no plans in concrete for a Liverpool move for Ocampos just yet, if Romano is to be believed, the Reds are keeping a very close eye on the £27k per week winger ahead of a possible move this summer.

And, considering the fact that Takumi Minamino (now on loan at Southampton), Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri – three of Liverpool’s back up forwards – have managed just one Premier League goal between them for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, it is not a difficult argument to make that Liverpool could use the addition of a player like Ocampos this summer.
