Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has made a transfer claim on Reds winger Xherdan Shaqiri and his future at the Merseyside club.

This comes after Addison recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of the upcoming summer transfer window and the potential business the Red could do in it, Addison had this to say about Shaqiri in particular. (15.15)

He said: “I think there’s a really, really good chance that Xherdan Shaqiri moves on.

“When you think that Liverpool set a price tag for him and would have let him go last season, I think that probably will happen now this summer.”

Liverpool signed Shaqiri back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Championship side Stoke City for a fee of £13.23 million.

Since then, the 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £14.4 million, has made 58 appearances for the Reds across all competitions in which he has managed to score eight goals and provide nine assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Matt Addison’s comments on Shaqiri and his potential summer exit…

Given how Shaqiri has only made 17 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions so far this season, scoring one goal and providing four assists along the way, as well as the fact that he has had his fair share of injury issues since arriving at the club, there’s every chance Liverpool could cut their ties with the winger this summer and move him on.

Do you think Liverpool should sell Shaqiri this summer?

Also, as Addison mentioned in the podcast, the Merseyside club reportedly put a £25 million transfer fee on the winger for a potential summer exit last year that ultimately did not happen, there’s a possibility that they could look to get rid of him again this summer.
