Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has made a transfer claim on Reds attacker Takumi Minamino and his future at Anfield.

This comes after Addison recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he discussed a range of subjects concerning the Merseyside club.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Minamino, who is currently on a loan deal at fellow Premier League side Southampton until the end of the season, Addison had this to say about the player and his future as a Liverpool player. (15.31)

He said: “I think the most likely scenario at this stage is that maybe, he gets a couple of goals for Southampton, the price tag goes up and Liverpool makes a profit on him in the summer potentially.”

Liverpool signed Minamino back in January last year from Austrian club RB Salzburg for a fee of £7.65 million. Overall, the 26-year-old, who is currently valued at £9 million, has made 31 appearances for the Reds across all competitions in which he has managed to score four goals and provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Matt Addison’s comments on Minamino and his Liverpool future…

Since moving to Southampton on his current loan deal earlier this month, Minamino has managed to score two goals in just four appearances for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

This says to us that Addison’s suggestion of Minamino doing well at Southampton to get his transfer fee up for Liverpool to potentially sell him in the summer could well happen.

Do you think Liverpool should sell Minamino this summer?

No

In our view, if Minamino continues to impress during his spell at St. Mary’s, he should return to Liverpool and secure his role in the squad and try and impress when he gets the chance under Klopp.
