Leeds United-oriented journalist Phil Hay has recently talked about Tyler Roberts’ future at Elland Road.

Hay appeared on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show podcast and the panel talked about all things Leeds United. They also discussed the futures of multiple players and one man that they focused on was Tyler Roberts. Hay believes that Roberts’ situation at Leeds could reach a decisive point in the summer transfer window.

In January, Roberts was linked with a move to the Championship as clubs from the second tier expressed interest in him, with Leeds fielding enquiries for him in the window. Wayne Rooney’s Derby County were among those to have made approaches to sign him.

Should Leeds let Roberts go in the summer?

Roberts recently featured for Leeds against Arsenal and Hay believes that the Whites have big decisions to make when it comes to the Welshman’s future – as they’d either have to sell him or hand him a new contract.

The journalist said: “I’ve always felt that he’s a player with talent, and I think Leeds have thought that as well. Bielsa obviously likes him and obviously rates him. But it’s a big period, this, for him now, because he’s going to have 12 months left when they get to the summer.

“And I think if there are big decisions to be made, and if Bielsa’s staying, he’s surely going to be one of them. I mean, at that stage, it’s got to be [either a] new contract, or, you would think, sell elsewhere because otherwise, you’re risking losing him for very little a little bit further down the line. But yeah, he is making a difference.”

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

TIF Thoughts on Tyler Roberts…

Roberts can play in attacking midfield as well as a second striker in advanced areas. While he has played only 360 minutes of Premier League football this season, he can add depth in different areas of the pitch and he can come off the bench to take some burden off other players.

He still only 22 and may still possess the potential to improve further in the future. So because of these reasons, it may be wise for the Whites to keep Roberts at the club and hand him a new contract. He can add depth to the team, he’s still young and on top of that – as Hay says – Marcelo Bielsa likes him, too.
