Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has been sharing some details on Whites defender Robin Koch and his recovery from injury.

This comes after Hay recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the Elland Road club.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

On the subject of Koch and his recovery from a serious knee injury he suffered back in December, Hay had this to say on the matter. (53.39)

He said: “You would expect that Koch will be back before the end of the season or fully match fit before the end of the season, which was always the projection.

“They said it would be three months or so after his surgery in December and it looks like it will be three months almost exactly.”

Leeds signed Koch back in the previous summer transfer window from German club SC Freiburg for a fee of £11.7 million.

Since arriving in England, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £15.3 million, has made 11 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the Premier League (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Phil Hay’s comments on Koch and his recovery from injury…

Given how Koch played every minute of Premier League action for Leeds before picking up this knee injury against Chelsea back in December and managed to earn himself a season rating of 6.65/10 for his performances, this shows that he was an important figure for Bielsa before he got injured.

Are you excited to see Koch return to action?

Moving forward it’ll be interesting to see whether or not the defender will slot back into the side when he fully recovers or if Bielsa will reintroduce him into the side slowly as a result of the seriousness of the injury he suffered.

In our view, if Koch can be available for selection before the end of the season and make himself an extra option in defence, this will give Leeds an extra boost to pick up some positive results and finish as high up the table as possible.
