Leeds United fans have been reacting to the performance of Tyler Roberts during their loss to Arsenal at the weekend.

Roberts has been something of a bit-part player ever since Marcelo Bielsa took over at Leeds United, only occasionally getting a solid run of minutes in the first-team, so when he does get the chance to get on the pitch like he did during his 45-minute spell at the Emirates, he has to make the most of it if he’s going to show Marcelo Bielsa that he belongs in the team.

And impress he did, as his WhoScored rating showed that he was the second-best Leeds United player on the day with a rating of 7.0, only bettered by Pascal Struijk’s 7.5, which led to many Leeds United fans on social media insisting that he be given more chances in the starting eleven moving forward:

“He’s been like a different player since he returned from injury. I really want it to work for him here”

“Have to give him credit. He looked sharp when he came on. Always looking for the ball & trying to create something. Need to see more of that from him. Bielsa obviously sees something in him as a player. Might just be taking a bit longer to untap the talent.”
“Should get him in for Alioski and get Dallas back to left-back. Deserves his chance in starting 11.”
“Has to start next game surely?”
“Still think there’s a player here should he stay fully fit & get a little run of games”
“He’s done very well and deserves the chance to start. The worry is the lack of goal threat from him. Aside from that, give the lad a go.”

Do you think that Roberts will stay at Leeds long term?

No, he will be gone soon

No, he will be gone soon

Yes, he has a big future here

Yes, he has a big future here

The Wales international, valued at £3.24m on Transfermarkt, was subject to several approaches from Championship side Derby County in the January transfer window, and whilst Leeds rejected all of them, it does suggest that his future at Elland Road could be under threat at any time. So the more of these performances he puts in, the better he has of sticking around.
