Many Leeds United fans have been talking about the latest comments about Illan Meslier that recently emerged on social media.

Leeds star Luke Ayling was recently talking about Meslier in an interview and he described him as ‘still a very young lad’, following his recent performance against Arsenal, which saw the goalkeeper come in for some criticism. He said that the youngster will learn from the errors that he makes and he has been ‘brilliant’ for the Whites this season.

Ayling revealed that Marcelo Bielsa has put quite a bit of faith in the Frenchman and he was confident that Meslier will bounce back from the error that he made against the Gunners.

What do Leeds fans think about Illan Meslier?

After Leeds’ defeat to Arsenal, Graeme Souness had slammed Meslier for his performance. Souness said that the penalty decision was right and it wasn’t the first time that the youngster made a bad decision in a game. Souness said that Meslier had cost Leeds three goals on the day and he has seen him make mistakes before (as per Metro).

Other Leeds fans also made their views clear about their club’s £10.8m-rated young goalkeeper, who they signed permanently in the summer.

A lot of these Leeds fans are desperate to see Meslier improve and they would be happy to see him take his time and learn from his mistakes slowly.

The 20-year-old has made 22 appearances in the Premier League appearances this season, having broken through for the team while in the Championship last season.  He has shown his shot-stopping ability this season, having overperformed on post-shot xG by 0.8.

It shows that he’s still a reliable goalkeeper and while he did give away a penalty against Arsenal, he has perhaps shown enough to warrant a regular starting place at Elland Road.
