Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed the post-match comments of club captain Liam Cooper.

Following the Whites’ 2-1 loss to Everton on Wednesday evening – a game in which Leeds enjoyed much more attacking momentum than their opponents, registering 16 shots, seven of which were on target, and 63% possession of the ball – Cooper stated in his post-match comments that, despite being ‘disappointed’ with the outcome of the fixture, ‘if we’re going to lose, that’s the way we’ve got to lose – sling everything at it’.

“Rather not lose TBF, very poor mentality from our captain.”

“Let’s ignore that that loss came from 2 mistakes from our captain. Needs to be stronger and more aggressive.”

@Brandon7Yates

“Still get 0 points at end of the day doesn’t matter how well we played.”

@TomWLufc

“Sorry, but poor defending cost us yet again. Great team spirit to fight back but a little too late. Can’t knock effort just poor defending.”

@AdamDav40474380

“Reality is we need to replace Cooper. He can’t carry the ball out he passes back and sideways. You need more. Be gone next season. Too many mistakes.”

@TDarksen

“League One Liam”

“No one should accept a defeat. Very poor response from ‘the captain’.”

All in all, it would appear that the majority of these Leeds fans were far from happy with the comments of Cooper, with some questioning why the 29-year-old was smiling after his side has suffered a defeat, while others called for the centre-back to be removed from Marcelo Bielsa’s side going forwards.
