Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest social media post from Whites journalist Phil Hay.

This comes after Hay recently shared a post on his official Twitter page after seeing Leeds fall to a 1-0 defeat against Wolves on Friday night after an own goal from Whites goalkeeper Illan Meslier secured the win for the home side at Molineux.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

In his post, Hay said that this was a “really harsh defeat” for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but that it was “self-inflicted in terms of the chances wasted but about as unlucky as you get with the goal.”

Hay also added, on a more positive note, that the Yorkshire club are “continuing to mix well with established sides” in the Premier League this season.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans who were quick to share their responses to Hay’s assessment of the game against Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Hay’s post on the Wolves defeat?

“One of the most scandalous results of the season that. Completely undeserved”

@MoltenGFC

“Don’t mind losing to teams who are better but that was hard to take”

@rico74leeds

“Couldn’t agree more, we had our chances but couldn’t take any and they had a huge slice of fortune. Fine margins but really frustrating to come away empty handed.”

@mightywhitesfc

“Very similar to the home game. Not much in it. Separated by two lucky lucky goals. Didn’t deserve to lose either but you simply have to take your chances”

@MorcarsHill

“Thought it was poor to watch.. Just shows the championship players overall not quite good enough”

@kingybbb

“We allowed them to drag us down to their level, we were half a yard short all night..”

@jamesgerardFos2

“Absolutely gutted. Mes didn’t deserve the bad luck with the own goal but how many chances do we need to score? Raphinha crying out for a bit of quality on the end of his crosses.”

@JammyMofo

“Very unlucky tonight we just weren’t clinical with the opportunities we had. Almost a carbon copy of the home game and they got the luck again”

@dave_leedsutd

“I’m fearful that we’re running out of results. Long way to go yet too.”

@mrtull1

“We weren’t good enough”

@tompatterson90

“Robbed.”

Looking at the replies to Hay’s post, it appears that these Leeds fans were not happy with the final result at Molineux based on the performances from both teams.

Were you disappointed by Leeds' overall performance against Wolves?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given that it was an own goal that ultimately took the points away from Leeds, it’s understandable why these fans are disappointed with the result and why Hay has described it as a “harsh” one.

However, with WhoScored giving Wolves an overall team rating of 6.86/10 compared to Leeds’ 6.62/10, despite it being a close affair, perhaps the home side narrowly edged the encounter as the 1-0 scoreline would suggest.
