Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments made by Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa regarding his future at the Yorkshire club and the possibility of him signing a new deal at Elland Road.

This comes after Leeds journalist Phil Hay shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying comments made by Bielsa during his recent press conference ahead of Leeds’ midweek Premier League clash against Southampton.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

On the subject of his future at the club, Bielsa said that “nothing is better than what Leeds represents as a job,” before suggesting that the club should wait until the end of the season, which is when his current deal expires, before potentially offering him a new one.

This post from Hay then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans who were quick to share their thoughts on what Bielsa had to say about his future.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Hay’s post about Bielsa and his future at Elland Road?

“It’s really hard not to be humbled by this. Bielsa is a top manager in the world and undoubtedly a top human being. It makes me so proud of how far we have come as a club because of the board, the fans and Bielsa. What a culture he him and his staff have instilled.”

From another manager this might just be lip service to his current employer, but because it’s Bielsa, we know it’s true. Fantastic comments. #lufc

“Best news of the past 12 months”

@jxshmaddison

How my football club attracted this man i’ll never know, he’s just brilliant! #LUFC”

@FootyAnalyKris

“Really encouraging to hear early snippets of enthusiasm from Bielsa. His loyalty was never in doubt, but to ease our collective minds knowing he’s in for the long haul distances any thoughts between ourselves and the inevitable city-wide mourning that his departure will bring.”

“Oh wow”

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Leeds fans are over the moon with Hay’s post and what Bielsa had to say about the club and would be delighted to see the Argentine stay at the club beyond his current deal.

Are you confident Bielsa will sign a new deal at Leeds?

Yes

No

No

Given how Bielsa got the Yorkshire club out of the Championship and into the Premier League after a 16-year absence, it’s obvious why these Leeds fans would be delighted to see him keep his position at Elland Road for the future.

In our view, if Bielsa can end this season with Leeds in or around the top half of the table, he should continue his role at the club and see where he can take them next year if he decides he wants to stay.
