Leeds United fans have been giving their views on the future of Tyler Roberts following some comments made by former player Noel Whelan.

The Welshman, valued at £3.24m on Transfermarkt, has spent most of the season as a bit-part player, which may have been one of the reasons why Championship side Derby County were reportedly interested in bringing him in during the January transfer window, so that he could get a consistent run of games.

And during a recent interview with Football Insider, Whelan expressed his doubts about whether or not he would be any good to Leeds United as a Premier League player:

“I still doubt whether he can do it in the Premier League. He struggled to get into a Championship side last year. I am just not sure whether he is a Premier League player. We need more quality if we have aspirations of competing for European spots in years to come.”

This led to a discussion on the Leeds Insider Facebook page about whether or not it would be worth keeping Roberts beyond the summer, with the vast majority of the supporters in favour of jettisoning the 22-year-old:

Do you believe there is more to come from Tyler Roberts?

Given his apparent use to the team, it certainly wouldn’t be a great surprise to see him leave in the summer, unless Marcelo Bielsa has something up his sleeve for the next campaign.
