Many Leeds United fans have been discussing some comments about Patrick Bamford that recently emerged on social media.

Former Whites striker Lee Chapman was recently talking to The Sun and gave his opinion about Leeds’ current leading man.

He urged Bamford to push himself a bit harder, stating that the forward can often be ‘too nice’, and if he misses some chances, he doesn’t seem too upset or annoyed about it.

Do you think Bamford needs to more aggressive?

Chapman made it clear that he wants to see Bamford ‘lose his temper’ sometimes, ‘hurt some people’ and ‘get stuck in’.

These comments from Chapman were posted on Facebook by Leeds United Live. Many Whites fans weren’t happy about these comments and they made their appreciation of Bamford clear.

What did Leeds fans make of these comments about Patrick Bamford?

In his Leeds career, Bamford has played 95 games so far. He has found the back of the net 38 times during this period, also picking up 12 assists. In the current season, he has already picked up 12 goals while also racking up six assists for the Whites (as per Transfermarkt).

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

Only Harry Kane, Son Heung Min, Bruno Fernandes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mohamed Salah have scored more goals than the Englishman.

A lot of these Leeds fans don’t buy into Chapman’s comments and feel that Bamford is just fine as he is and perhaps don’t want him to change.

Bamford has generated a non-penalty expected goals (xG) ratio of 11.4 in the Premier League this season, which is more than any other in the division so far. He has also only marginally underperformed on xG by just 0.2 this season and shows his quality as a striker (as per FBref).

Being a striker, goals matter the most and Bamford has shown on plenty of occasions that he is a quality goalscorer. So if he’s scoring regularly, that is all that should concern Chapman and the Leeds supporters.
