Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments made by Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa.

This comes after the official Leeds Twitter account shared a post relaying comments made by Bielsa during his recent press conference ahead of the club’s upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

In his press conference, the Argentine said: “To have a complete squad in your first year in the Premier League is very difficult. So, it’s very important to develop some players. In the case of Pascal [Struijk], [Jamie] Shackleton, players you have to look for a good right-back, a good number eight, a good centre-back or a good centre-mid.

“We have to make reference to how much it would cost to get good players in those positions. The example is Leeds wanted to buy Ben White for £30m and we weren’t able to. We have to go in a careful manner and try to evolve the group.”

This post then quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of Leeds fans, who were quick to share their responses to this latest post from the club.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to these latest comments from Bielsa?

Love this! Implies he’s in it for the long haul #lufc

@lufcThommo

“He’s right. To get to a PL quality squad will take at least another 2 summer windows. And even then, we will forever be playing catch up, given how long we’ve been out of this league.”

Some Leeds fans were responding to this post under the impression that these latest comments from Bielsa suggest he will be remaining at the Yorkshire club beyond his current contract which expires at the end of this season.

“Nailed on he’s staying to finish his project. Lovely stuff”

@barney__21

“He’s staying then”

@GravPa

“Building for the future. He’s staying.”

@17LUFC

“He’s staying for another 5 years”

@lufcrumham

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that the majority of these Leeds fans are delighted at a potential sign from Bielsa that he has a long-term plan at the club and will remain as the manager at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.

Do you think Bielsa will sign a new deal at Leeds?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the 65-year-old guided the club back to the Premier League after a 16-year absence and with the club currently sat in 11th place in the table prior to their match against Wolves, it’s understandable why these Leeds fans are big admirers of Bielsa and would want to see him remain at the club beyond this season.

In our view, Bielsa should sign a new deal at the club and continue his work at Leeds and help them progress in the top flight of English football.
