A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to a post from Anthony Joseph in which he claims that a number of clubs in Israel want to sign Hatem Abd Elhamed.
However, the Sky Sports reporter claims that Elhamed’s preference is to stay and fight for his place at Celtic Park, despite him being offered an escape route.
There were reports in December last year that the 29-year-old was struggling in Scotland, but even though he is missing his family, Joseph seems to believe that he wants to stay.
This has drawn the attention of these Bhoys fans who are desperate for him to leave.
“Sell, injury prone and homesick doesn’t make for a good outcome.”
“He should go back home Free up wages to bring someone else in”
“He’s rank rotten. Best for him to head home.”
“Utter muck”
“Wonder if he’s fit enough to make the flight. Never fit enough for the bench at CP”
Do you want to see Celtic sell Elhamed?
No, we should keep him
Yes, time to go
“THESE. ARE. LIES”
The Bhoys signed the Israeli international from Hapoel Beer Sheva for £1.62m in the summer of 2019.
Since then, he has made 29 appearances for the club and has provided seven assists.
However, this season, Elhamed has barely featured due to injury and the current global pandemic, but when he has played, he has been decent in the league but not in the Europa League.
His average rating in the Scottish Premiership is 6.96, which ranks him in 12th place in Celtic’s squad, and his rating in the Europa League is 6.49, which ranks him in 13th place in the Bhoys’ squad for that competition.
So, looking at this, you can see why some Celtic fans might want Elhamed to leave, but if Joseph is right, then the defender’s preference is to remain and fight for his place.
