Journalist Alex Crook has recently revealed details about interest from the Premier League in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

Crook appeared as a guest on the latest episode of Jim White’s show on TalkSport and talked about Edouard’s future at Celtic. The journalist revealed that Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City are taking an interest in the Frenchman and he also went on to praise Edouard’s goalscoring record.

Edouard has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have drawn links with him and so have Brighton. French side Monaco have previously had an approach rejected for the striker in the past.

When talking about Leicester City’s interest in Edouard, Crook said: “Leicester, we are told, [are] showing a bit of interest in Odsonne Edouard at Celtic. His goal record is absolutely sensational – one every two games for Celtic. And interestingly, he can play in the Europa League if he were to join Leicester – even though he’s already, of course, played in the competition for Celtic. The rules about dual registration changed in that competition a couple of seasons ago.”

TIF Thoughts on Edouard’s links with Leicester…

While there is clearly interest in Edouard, the Frenchman has scored only 0.34 goals per 90 minutes in the Premiership for the Hoops in the current campaign. He has scored seven times, but three of them have been penalties (as per FBRef).

This might be a reflection of the fact that he hasn’t been as important for Celtic as he was last season, when he was scoring more goals. The Hoops are as many as 21 points behind the Gers in the table and while they have three games in hand, their form doesn’t suggest that they can still turn things around.

Because of that, Celtic could look to fashion a rebuild for next season already and perhaps, they could spark that by Edouard’s sale.
