How well do you remember Rangers' 2020/21 season so far? We'll start you off with an easy one... Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the opening gameweek of the Premiership, but which player scored the only goal of the game?

One of the topics that he briefly touched on was transfers, and he provided his view on the Gers potentially signing Aberdeen’s Scott Wright.

Wright has been linked with a move to Ibrox on a pre-contract basis, but McDermott believes that the deal can be done in this month, amid talk an agreement could be struck over a potential swap deal.

He said: “I think it will get done this month; it’s a difficult deal to do this month because of the different factors to it.

“From what I have heard, I think a lot of people were talking about Greg Stewart, Jordan Jones going to Aberdeen –  I now I don’t think that will happen. I don’t think the Greg Stewart thing will work. I don’t believe Jordan Jones would particularly want to go to Aberdeen.

“So that then leaves the Ross McCrorie element to this deal. Aberdeen are due to start paying for Ross McCrorie at the end of this season; he’s currently on loan at the minute for the first year of this deal before signing a big contract.

“I think something is going to need to be done with that.

“I know definitely both clubs; certainly Rangers are trying to get it done, Aberdeen are open to it if they can strike some sort of deal.

“It might drag on a wee bit longer, but I would expect Scott Wright to come in , by hook or by crook.”

Do you think Wright will sign for Rangers this month?

TIF Thoughts on Wright’s potential move to Rangers…

Wright has played 14 league games for Aberdeen this season and has averaged a rating of 6.69 as well as scoring two goals and providing one assist, so it is not clear why the Gers want him.

It is interesting that McDermott thinks that the Ross McCrorie deal holds the key to Wright moving to Rangers now.

McCrorie is currently on a season-long loan at Pittodrie that will become permanent in the summer for £350,000, so maybe something can be done with the fee to help Wright move to Ibrox?

We will have to wait and see what happens, but it is clear that McDermott is confident that Rangers will end up with Wright by the end of this transfer window.
