How well do you remember Rangers' 2020/21 season so far? We'll start you off with an easy one... Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the opening gameweek of the Premiership, but which player scored the only goal of the game?

One of the topics that he spent quite a bit of time on was Bongani Zungu and how he rates him.

The 28-year-old is currently on a season-long loan from Amiens and has made 12 appearances in all competitions since he signed for the Gers.

Zungu has played in six of the last seven league games and seems to be getting more involved, and McFarlane thinks that Rangers have a good player.

He said: “I am going to put my head on the chopping block and say I think he’s a good player. I really like the look of him.

“I think the crucial thing is that he can hold the ball, which is what Steven Gerrard likes, and he’s physically strong. So, he’s got the equipment there to be a really, really good player for Rangers.

“It’s just about bedding him in properly, and we’ve seen it time and time again with Gerrard’s signings from abroad – they need a bit of time not just to get used to the league, but to get used to the structure of the team.

“I think if he gets that, he could well go on to become a very good player for Rangers.”

Do you think Rangers should sign Zungu?

No, not seen enough of him yet

TIF Thoughts on Zungu…

The South African international, who is valued at £1.08m by Transfermarkt, has plenty of experience both internationally and for various clubs, so it is not like he is a young up and coming talent, but clearly McFarlane sees something that he likes in Zungu.

His loan will expire at the end of the season and though the Gers do have an option to buy it will be interesting to see if Steven Gerrard’s side do decide to make this a permanent transfer.

Though, for that to happen, you would have to think that his average league rating of 6.23 is going to have to improve from now until the end of the season.
