Celtic journalist Michael Gannon has been sharing his thoughts on Hoops midfield David Turnbull and his future at the Parkhead club.

This comes after Gannon recently made an appearance on the Record Celtic Podcast where he spoke about a variety of topics concerning the Hoops.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

On the subject of Turnbull, Gannon had this to say about the midfield man.

He said: “The one thing Celtic can hang on to and cling on to right now is David Turnbull.

“I think in David Turnbull they have got the next big thing in Scottish football. I think he is going to be a proper star.

“He’s a proper player and you can see him now, comfortable in that jersey. He’s got to be the first name on the teamsheet, build your team around him because he is a proper football player and it’s kind of a case of enjoying him while it lasts, because he is destined to go right to the top, this kid.”

Celtic signed the 21-year-old back in the previous summer transfer window from fellow Scottish club Motherwell for an undisclosed fee.

Since then, the midfielder, who is currently valued at £1.62 million, has made 15 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side in which he has already managed to score five goals and provide three assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Michael Gannon’s comments on Turnbull…

Taking into account Turnbull’s impressive goals and assists record he has managed to rack up for Celtic so far, it’s understandable why Gannon thinks so highly of him and why he thinks he will be a very important player for the club for the foreseeable future.

Also, with Turnbull managing to earn himself a solid season rating of 7.05/10 for his performances in the SPFL so far this season, this backs up what Gannon had to say about him.

In our view, Celtic should try and keep hold of Turnbull for as long as possible because he has already shown he clearly has what it takes to perform for the club on the pitch.
