Supporters of Celtic have recently flocked to a transfer link which has been drawn between the Hoops and Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic.

According to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, Neil Lennon’s side is in ‘talks‘ with the Foxes over signing the Croatian centre-back.

The 23-year-old defender is supposedly not in Brendan Rodgers’ short-term plans and they will, therefore, listen to loan offers for him.

However, it is also claimed that the Premier League outfit would be willing the sell the player for the ‘right price‘.

Joseph claims that Lennon’s outfit would prefer a loan but with an option to purchase the 23-year-old central defender included in the deal.

The claim was picked up and reported by The Celtic Star, which was then shared by Celtic Gossip, and their tweet had lots of fans talking.

During the 2018/19 season, the central defender spent the term on loan at Parkhead from the Foxes (per Transfermarkt).

While with the Hoops, Benkovic made 27 appearances for the club, in which he managed to score two goals and provide one assist for a teammate.

Despite some fans being keen on his return, others aired that they would not be as happy to see him come back to Parkhead.

“Rubbish. Played less than a dozen games since he left. Not good enough for Cardiff or Bristol City. Showed promise for us at times before getting roughed up against Rangers. Are our scouts out on furlough?”
